The sun is shining, pruning is finished (almost) and we have some new wines!
Man it feels like a long time since I've said that. The new wines are all from the new Quindalup vineyard. So much newness!
Just whites, rose and bubbles at the moment, busting to get onto your table in the spring sunshine. No reds yet, they are still sleeping in barrel.
The old favourites from our Wilyabrup vineyard should be good to go in October, but for now you can check out the new stuff here
There are some new labels too, to match the new vineyard. It is all very exciting.
Unfortunately we have VERY limited stocks of the Petillant, most was gobbled up pre-release by a restaurant.
And Naomi has stashed some somewhere too I'm sure, but we do have some.
If you live in Sydney, go and check out The Dolphin in Surry Hills, James is the culprit who bought most of it!
(They also just won best wine program in The Australian Restaurant Awards too)
We did heaps and heaps and heaps of experiments this year as we tried to learn what the vineyard could do
There was lots of epic fails! (And a few wins too). But we did manage to cobble together the following for your tasting pleasure
Petillant is 100% Chardonnay, nothing else, all wild fermented. Slightly sparkling, tastes like peach juice
Chenin is so fresh and light, but with texture from a Carbonic Maceration portion (Such a big fancy word!
Sauvignon Blanc has a small portion of skin/concrete egg/barrel ferment in it for texture but still clean and cris
Rose is 95% Shiraz, with a last minute pre-bottle freak-out by me addition of a barrel of Chardonnay to increase the juiciness
All the wines are from our Quindalup vineyard, which we are converting to organic farmin
We are over halfway thru the certification here already, currently certified in-conversion and full certification on track for next yea
All these wines are wild-fermented with natural acidity (no added acid)
We put together a mixed sixpack too as they are always pretty popular and a good way to see what you like
In other news Simon is doing a Natural bee-keeping course next month to incorporate them into vineyard life, bzzzzzzzzzz
There are some new wine varieties coming on-stream next year too, including Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese as well as a little known white grape...
I hope you enjoy the new wines, would love to hear your thoughts
As always freight is free over 3 bottles and we still plant a tree for every bottle sold online.
All the best! Cheers, Ben
